Use it or Lose It

Wears Valley is growing. By leaps and bounds. We even have our own Post Office, located within the Wears Valley General store. The only question is: For how long?

Wears Valley got its first Post office, down the road, almost in Pigeon forge, 2 years ago. When this was opened at Steve Miller and Associates, the Postal serviced removed the blue mailing box that had been located at Wears Country Market. The contractor choose not to renew, and shortly thereafter the office was moved into Wears Valley proper, inside the general store.

Al Wilson, who owns and operates the Wears Valley General store, has also been it’s acting postmaster.

This takes up much time for the shopkeeper.

Whereas the first attempt was ended by the contractor, the General store Post Office may be shut down by the Postal authorities if the Volume does not improve. As of this writing a timeline for this had not been given.

I want to be able to offer Postal Service to the people in Wears Valley, says Wilson, but if the office isn’t used, I’m not sure how long it will be here.
