Wears Valley Volunteer Fire Department Holding annual Supper/ Auction

                                  Supporting them makes us Safer

  Submitted Reports

The Wears Valley Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual supper-auction at WeearWood School on Friday, April 30th, 2010. Dinner will be served from 5:00-6:30 and the auction will begin at 7:00.

In a recent letter announcing the event, Eddie Teaster, Chairperson of the WVVFD, gave an annual update on the Department’s progress and general situation.

In 2010 the department will be 24 years old and a third generation of firefighters is providing first-class firefighting, first responder, and emergency medical services. In 2009 the Department responded to a total of 203 calls, the majority of those being medically related.

Through your support, we have been able to do several good things the past couple of years. Last Year, we were able to replace our old medical response unit with a newer model Chevrolet Suburban. We replaced our old tanker truck (old milk truck) with a 1993 International tanker. We continue to get our members better trained to meet our growing needs, we have had 3 more become medical responders in the past year, and have one more completing EMT school this month. We feel very fortunate to be able to meet all of these needs to keep our community safer.

As you can see, our needs are many and varied. Over the years, we have received an outpouring of support from our community. We truly appreciate it, and our volunteers and community are safer because of your support. IF you cannot attend our auction, please consider making a donation (mailing address is 3339 Mattox Cemetery road, Sevierville, TN 37862), as it means a lot to our department and our community.
